Coal River Lodge and RV Park

This is an "historic" 1949 lodge. When you read that in the Mile Post you know what your in for. Old and decrepit would be better terms. After driving for an hour in the driving rain we had no choice and we were tired. Along the way we saw one big horned sheep and a black bear. We lunched in the camper at Muncho Lake, the largest natural lake in British Columbia. After that the rain set in.

This morning I woke up to pitter patter on the Casita roof. Not the sound I wanted to hear. The lodge is off the grid like so many places around here and there is the constant noise of the generator running. I will be glad to get on the road. We will be in Watson Lake, Yukon Territory today. I am looking forward to that as they have a planetarium that show the auroras and explains the science behind them. At this point in the journey we must decide whether we go to Tok or Skagway.
